We offer a therapeutic massage category where we customize the treatment based on the clients needs. Our therapeutic massage can be a combination of deep tissue, relaxation techniques, stretching, sports/medical massage and more. When we interview a client we ask them what they hope to accomplish, and what they are looking for. Most people want some areas of their bodies massaged with deep tissue, and other areas they prefer lighter touch. The therapists are professional and easily adaptable to perform the desired level of pressure.
Deep Tissue Massage is probably the most popular type of massage. To de-mystify the techniques generally referred to as “deep tissue massage” we try to unravel what it actually is. In the body, there are many layers of muscles underneath the skin, and fascia. These muscle fibers stretch from an origin to an insertion point. There are literally millions of string like muscle fibers in every muscle. These fibers become twisted- just like when you put your Christmas lights in a box when taking down your Christmas tree. Those strings become entangled and it becomes difficult to smooth them out. The same with muscles, that might get overused while sitting in front of a computer, or under used at that same activity. Massage moves through the layers to get to the root of the issue and help relieve tension by coaxing the muscle that is spasming or tight to release. While a therapist employs dozens of techniques in any one massage, most techniques involved in reaching the deeper layers are rooted in the following techniques/teachings:
Myofascial Release
Friction
Cross Friction
Trigger point Release
Rolfing
Kneading
Tapotement
